An angry 15ft plus swell has swamped the main contest site at Supertubos overnight, but Rip Curl team relocated to backup spot Lagido this morning to wait for a 1:30pm call for a possible 2:00pm start for Heats 1 – 10 of Round 1. The wind is forecast to ease during the day and the short wait should allow the surf at Lagido to clean up for the afternoon.

Most of the surfers have been hunting waves this morning and have been excited about seeing the biggest waves to hit Europe since they’ve been here. Rip Curl crew have filmed a tow-in session with Taylor Knox and Mick Fanning, so stay tuned for that video soon…
