For the fourth time in a row Maya Gabeira won last saturday the Billabong XXL award.

The surfer who is sponsored by Billabong and Red Bull, won also a check for $ 5000.

“This season was like a dream and I feel blessed for everything that happens in my life,” Maya said after receiving the award from Bethany Hamilton.

The “flying tomato” didn’t disappoint in the half-pipe tonight with his stunning performance. The Gold Medal winner has been perfecting his skills on a secret $500,000 training pipe which can only be accessed by helicopter in the mountains of Colorado built by Red Bull.

Finland’s Peetu Piiroinen, with an outstanding show, won the Silver Medal.
And Scotty Lago also from the U.S. Team won the Bronze with a 42.8.

A snow storm over Germany covered all major cities in white in January. Marco Smolla and Fips Strauss took advantage of the great conditions and went out with a winch to ride some of Munich’s most prestigious spots, such as the Bavaria or the Eisbach.

Guys from Isenseven took some great shots and put together another fantastic clip with as usual really good music. We can’t wait to see their upcoming film. Hurry up guys!

The first video from Red Bull’s Project X private pipe in Colarado featuring Shaun White has been released.

In this first glimpse, you can see the pipe in all its glory and Shaun’s first drop in.

Last year, Shaun White disappeared from the snowboard scene, holing up in the wilds of the backcountry of Silverton, Colorado training for what would be the biggest winter of his life. This is the story of his year, the private halfpipe and one of the most progressive sessions in history.

She first took to a surfboard as an escape from her own spiralling teenage rebellion, but now Maya Gabeira is breaking as many taboos and preconceptions as she is surfing breakers.

She was far from a natural. It took her a month to get up on the board in the bubbling white water of the shorebreak. But Gabeira was hooked. She surfed daily during a student exchange year on Australia’s Gold Coast. Upon her return to Rio, she moved straight into a small hotel on a nearby beach. Gone was the obstinate little girl obsessed with fashion and nightlife, her place taken by a surf-chasing tomboy, out in the waves with the boys. Soon after she finished high school, she left her family and country, and moved to Hawaii. She was 17.

“I moved there for the surfing, but it was difficult to see how I was going to be a pro surfer. I wasn’t competing, and I had no sponsors,” she says.

For now, the former Maya is content to rest on the terrace of the Maasai, the most upscale of the low-slung surf hotels in this town, sipping coffee and barely touching her breakfast. The distant whine of jetski motors announces the return of Burle and the rest of the group. As five jetskis pull on to the sand, Gabeira leaves the terrace and heads through a small crowd of people to the group. Her left foot is scraped up from a crash against the reef earlier in the morning, the cuts still red with blood. But Maya shoulders up against one of the jetskis and, her hair tucked under a hat, heaves with the rest of the group as they push one ski after another onto a trailer, smiling and joking… Just one of the boys.

In the hunt for perfect waves, the Indies Trader took surfers on an epic quest around the reefs and beaches of this most exotic of locations. Palm-fringed, white sand islands were the achingly beautiful back for some of the most progressive surfing seen in the world of pro surfing. With machine-like waves reeling across the reefs providing the perfect canvas for high performance surfing, the event allowed for the boundaries to be pushed ever-higher with some very rare and special moments captured on camera and video including: Julian Wilson’s (AUS) signature ‘Sushi Roll’, Jordy Smith’s ‘Rodeo Clown’ and Mick Fanning’s 8-second barrel ride.

Andy Walshe, surf-coaching supremo at Red Bull summed it up by saying: “The basic goal is to provide these surfers with training and techniques to give them the opportunity to be the very best surfer they can be. Whether that’s us putting them in world class waves, whether that’s putting the junior surfers next to the best elite surfers we have, whether that’s us providing some scientific analysis of what they’re doing in the water and how they can improve on that, or if it’s just basic coaching techniques … all of these parts are designed to help the athletes realize their dreams and realize their goals.”
