Filmmaker Mark Waters has recently released his short surf video called Ericeira Travel.
It was entirely shot in Ericeira, Portugal named by Save The Waves Coalition first surfing reserve.

Wonderful soundtrack and great editing. I think I will be hitting Ericeira for some surfing soon!

“Hanging with Helder” skate video

Emerica have recently released their short skate video “Hanging with Helder”- the Emerica Europe team in Portugal.

It sees Helder Lima, Tom Knox, Rob Maatman and Vladik Scholz and Eniz Fazliov skateboarding on the sunny streets of Lisbon, Portugal.

Emerica “Weather, schedules, injuries all plot against the gregarious team. We waited with our eyes all on the prize, we saw an opening and we took it, on the other side was Lisbon, Portugal.”

Featuring: Helder Lima, Tom Knox, Rob Maatman, Vladik Scholz, Eniz Fazliov.

“The Village” movie

Filmmaker Pedro Sousa with help of Daniel Espírito Santo and João Botas has made a new video called The Village which features the everyday life of the Portuguese village of Obidos, but from a giant’s perspective.

The film was created with the effect called tilt-shifting that tricks the human eye into believing the subjects are toy-sized miniatures.

Billabong Azores Island Pro, August 10-15th

The Billabong Azores Islands Pro is the 5th events on the Women’s tour with a 6-star status, drawing the top surfers from around the world to the Atlantic to fight for important rating points as well as 180.000 USD prize money.

Current world number two Sally Fitzgibbons, a previous multiple winner at portuguese events, along with Billabong’s Paige Hareb and Courtney Conlogue and some of the top women’s surfers, including former World Champion Sofia Mulanovich and young guns such as Coco Ho, Tyler Wright, Laura Enever (World Junior Champion), Alana Blanchard, Bethany Hamilton or Lee-Ann Curren, alongside local Portuguese surfers like Billabong team rider Joana Rocha and 2009 WQS number 20 Francisca Pereira dos Santos, will all be looking to do well this year at the event.

230 surfers paddle out for “SOS Cabedelo” in Portugal

More than 230 surfers have paddled out to save another wave in danger, this time in Cabedelo, Figueira da Foz, Portugal.

The “SOS Cabedelo” called everyone in order to try and defend one of the best waves in Portugal.

The local authorities have plans to strengthen the northern jetty, a decision that will forever change the wave.

The human logo was a huge succes and “SOS Cabedelo” believes that the local politicians will change their mind and will preserve this natural treasure.
