Burton Snowboards have released a short video called “Blotto in Bariloche.”

It follows the snow photographer Dean ‘Blotto’ Gray on his trip to to Bariloche in Argentina.

The team composed by Dean, Jussi Oksanen, Jeremy Jones and Mikey Rencz encouters a heavy snowfall which poses a real challenge for a snowboard photographer.

Burton Snowboards recently released the teaser to their new new film, Standing Sideways. The full movie will be available this September at local snowboard shops and on iTunes®.

The hot production features Burton team riders Terje Haakonsen, Nicolas Müller, Jussi Oksanen, Jeremy Jones, Danny Davis, Mikey Rencz, Frederik Kalbermatten, Keegan Valaika, Mikkel Bang, Kazu Kokubo, Mark Sollors, Zak Hale, Mark McMorris, Ethan Deiss, Alex Andrews and Stephan Maurer.

Stay tuned for another sneak preview coming soon. From the looks of the first teaser with a unidentifed rider outrunning an avalanche to the sounds of the Beach Boys’ Don’t Worry Baby, the film looks to be pretty impressive.

Isenseven have recently released a teaser to their new film, Kaleidoscope.

The film is directed by Alex Schiller, Tom Elliott and Vincent Urban and looks to feature their usual high production values and quirky sense of fun.

It includes European snowboarding talents such as Alex Tank, Christian Haller, Wojtek Pawlusiak and Christophe Schmidt, representing the different styles from grubby jib kids to comp jockeys.

Transworld Snowboarding have captured all the drama behind their Team Shoot Out competition in a special documentary set to premiere on MTV2 on January 30.
The competition consisted the Rome, Burton, DC and Forum snowboarding teams battling head-to-head for the best shots, video and tricks captures in just one week at their chosen spots.

The Olympic uniforms feature a fresh and progressive style while also managing to pay tribute to more classic Americana fashion staples. The pants seamlessly integrate the look of real, worn, vintage denim, and the jackets feature preppy plaids adorned with leather patches and chenille crests with both pieces incorporating the performance benefits of Gore-Tex fabric. All product development at Burton is rider driven and this Olympic outerwear is no exception. Burton held a roundtable discussion with top pro-snowboarders and Olympic hopefuls Elena Hight, Mason Aguirre, Danny Davis, Kevin Pearce, Jack Mitrani, Luke Mitrani, Steve Fisher, Scotty Lago, and Louie Vito to review design concepts for the outerwear before arriving at the final creation.

The partnership with the Gore-Tex brand, the official fabric of the 2010 U.S. Snowboarding Team’s Olympic outerwear, further enhances the technical designs, enabling riders to compete in a variety of cold weather conditions. Gore-Tex fabrics combat the snow, ice, water and wind, while maintaining breathability, keeping riders drier and more comfortable.

Providing support for riders worldwide, Burton is supplying the official uniforms for the Chinese and Finnish snowboarding teams for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Boarding For Breast Cancer (B4BC) is a non-profit, youth-focused education, awareness, and fund raising foundation. Their mission is to increase awareness about breast cancer, the importance of early detection and the value of an active lifestyle.

They believe in the well being of the snow, surf and skate community, and that their role is to teach positive health practices which assist in detection and prevention of breast cancer.

B4BC have partnered with brands such as Burton that have released limited edition “Save the Melons” tank , Volcom with their “Station” Snow Jacket & “Survey” Pant, Etnies, Nixon Pink Limited Edition “Fluro Player” and Pink Vega, Gnu with B-Pro Barrett Christy Model, Vans with their snow boots Vans Veil B4BC, Von Zipper with “Chakra Sirens Song” goggles and Hurley and their Little Black Bikini .

All the items released have been co-branded with Boarding for Breast Cancer. A portion of the proceedings from the sale help generate funds for B4BC efforts in the fight against breast cancer and help raise awareness.

Some snowboard manufacturers have already realized that and this season even more snowboards are going “green”. From innovators such as LibTech and Gnu for whom green has been the standard for more than 20 years to companies like Burton more and more producers are offering green and eco-friendly boards. And it’s all just a beginning as boards made with sustainable material account for just 2% of the board market. Snowboarders just as surfers are attached to the nature so they are wiling to buy something that is ecologically better for the planet.

Amongst the first in this area and still at the forefront is Arbor based in Venice California makes their environmentally friendly snowboards out of Forest Certified woods and bamboo veneers since 1995 and has only recently gained recognition as a leading green company.

Lib Tech and Gnu boards all feature an array of green ingredients, including certified wood cores, 100 percent recyclable bases, basalt as an alternative to traditional fiberglass, and a top sheet material called Beans, made from castor beans. The factory itself recycles seven tons of waste each month, including all scrap steel from edges, base and sidewall materials and sawdust from making and milling wood cores.

Salmon won a 2008 Volvo Sports Design award for Eco Design for the construction of Sick Stick Snowboard. It’s built with use of structural bamboo that makes it not only greener but also lighter.

Burton has just designed it’s firt green snowboard Eco Nico with certified wood core, a lacquer-free top sheet, 90-percent recycled steel edges, 100-percent recycled sidewalls and a 50-percent recycled base. They also continue developing their Green Mountain Project the company’s first outerwear and layering collection that utilizes recycled materials and eco-friendly weatherproofing technology.

Voelkl is reducing their footprint with brand new Cashew board. Instead of a plastic topsheet, the Cashew features a tear-proof hemp/linen topsheet. 80% of the sintered base is made of recycled material while flexible wooden sidewalls replace the conventional ABS plastic ones. For the edges recyclable steel is used. It also contains as little resin and other toxicological materials as possible. They are cutting down the use of resources but not of technology and know-how! A unique combination of a directional sidecut, Rocker Shape and Convex Powder Base provides incredibly playful riding behaviour as well as maximum flotation in powder snow. An integrated Shock Absorber makes the board super stable for huge jumps too. The ultimate package for backcountry and park ventures and at the same time, for a better future!

K2 Eco Pop is an earth-friendly Gretchen Bleiler’s new pro model snowboard built in full with eco friendly materials and techniques, it’s core is built with a sustainable wood ans it’s construction slashes use of plastics, coatings, solvents, resins, and packaging. It also features K2’s new flatline tech which means the board has absolutely no camber or rocker but it’s super stable and very quick.

Bataleon also has their own Project Green Board: it is made with all the latest green alternative materials and produced in a factory with very strict green policies.

For you to get yourself all green you should have OneBallJay eco-friendly bio wax produced from soy beans. The producer donates 2% of all Soy Wax product Sales to earth and ocean non-profit charities to better our environment. Finally Howies, an active clothing company that believes in making higher quality, lower impact products is making some really great merino wool underlayers for you to keep yourself war while shredding the slopes.

The only problem is that those eco products tend to be more expansive then normal ones due to expansive research and investigation. Nevertheless they are a step in the right direction and all those projects will evolve step by step in the new eco-snowboarding revolution. Are you with us?

The movie actually convinced me that Burton is still a snowboarding trendsetter. Everything shown in the movie was really great which really shouldn’t be of any surprise to anyone as Burton still has one of the most talented teams with Shaun White, Jussi Oksanen, Keegan Valaika, Nicolas Muller, Fredrik Kalbermatten and of course Jeremy Jones.

Riding was great and stylish and some tricks shown were really mind blowing and looked totally effortless. All of the riders had something special to show; Jussi Oksanen’s style looked fun and natural, Shaun White was as usual daring and perfectly effortless in his half pipe stunts, Nicolas Muller’s part was joyful all-round snowboarding I particularly like. Finally Jeremy Jones did some cool stunts and his usual urban jibbing with really cool “shove-it” skate board trick. (Don’t tell me you were not wondering how he does it; here is the secret: he uses bindings with serration filed off from the bindings under plate that allows him to perform one-footed airs)

There are some great parts from amazing locations, some really sick powder riding and in the last 10 minutes of the film you finally understand where the title of the movie comes from when a massive “B” shape snow park is being constructed. All this together with great editing proves that Burton definitely knows how to put together a great video. Just check out the trailer!

I also liked the music very much that was a quite unusual but great mix of some pop with classic rock, soul and funk. On the top of all that editing and special visual effects made me really enjoy the whole picture. But there is nothing better then seeing a movie and deciding for yourself!
