The film mixes old and new – it’s shot on 8mm, 16mm and Bolex cameras as well as HD – and ditches trick-perfect long shots for choppy air, dig rail and wipeout edits.

Gravis have finally published the seven-minute film of one of his team riders Dylan Rieder. The movie is simply called ‘Dylan’ and was directed by Greg Hunt, with Jake Burton as executive producer. Beautiful skating, awesome shots.

This part is called “A Day with Clarence” and its about Wade Goodall and Laurie Towner surf the shallow wake of a trawler boat.

The 10 episode series, directed by Jake Donlen, is running until July 2011 and is giving the opportunity for viewers to vote via an online poll on what the team films next.

It features riders such as Torstein Horgmo and Sondre Tiller but what it most remarkable is the crazy post-production effects.

The director Tobias Frøystad says “Like sand and wind erodes historical monuments and landscapes throughout the centuries, so does the freshness and fun in the upcoming DC snow vid erode away your historical preconceptions of everything you know about entertainment value.”

The film takes a look on the west coast of Ireland and is a part of the Relentless Energy’s Short Stories Contest in which 4 young UK sport filmmakers were given £4000 to create a short five minute movie starring one of the brand’s athletes and to evoke their slogan of ‘No Half Measures’.

“Originally I planned for the film to be more anonymous, rather than biographical, an all encompassing piece, to represent the photographers keeping the surfing machine afloat”, explains Smith.

“It also gave me the chance to ask myself a few questions, like, if you’re always observing and documenting what you see and experience, are you ever truly present? Questions like that where I could step back think and then see what the answers were”, Smith says.

The winner of this contest is being decided in December and will win a further £4000.
