Underwater filmmaker Mike deGruy has spent decades looking intimately at the ocean. A consummate storyteller, he takes the stage at Mission Blue to share his awe and excitement — and his fears — about the blue heart of our planet. A truely inspiring talk by TED.

On Friday, February 3rd, at approximately 4pm, Mike and his good friend, Andrew Wight, were killed in a helicopter crash while working on a production together in Australia. Details about the crash are incomplete at this point, but news reports suggest some kind of malfunction in the helicopter at take-off.

In this third episode, Longboard Girls Crew returns from Mallorca and visits Carlota’s parents in their family house in Denia. They invite the whole crew to paella right in front of the beach. After the night spent in Calpe they continue the journey to the country’s interior. Castillian landscapes, lands of castles and medieval towns are waiting for our girls.

Photographer Julian Bleeker is currently developing his new book project, Hello, Skater Girl.

Julian had raised over $13,000 in order to print a photo book that captures the “spirit, determination and playfulness” of female skateboarding in 2011.

“It mixes image, illustration and text to document the lives of several skaters doing what they love to do: skate — at competitions, alone and together at parks, backyard pools and favorite [sic] skate spots.”

The two fastest girls in town Marisa Nunez and Ishti Backlund discuss race tactic before the final longboard race. Girls hitting 85+km/h and drafting back and forth down the 7km track. Filmed and edited by Rob McWhinnie.

This is the second episode of Juan Rayos and Longboard Girls Crew project “Endless roads”.

In the second episode, the girls take the ferry and head to Mallorca, where they will be spending the next days travelling and skating the rocky island. New friends and local riders join the girls for this stage and some crazy downhill.

3 Longboarders, Paul, Aaron, and Adam welcome you to follow their journey through the Maghreb, in other words, the last country in the Arabic world to receive sunlight. In Casablanca the three reunite to embark on a 2000 km journey by longboard. After their first trip through Peru and Bolivia, they discovered their love for the open road together. These three high-energy individuals are all about to get a taste of Africa, and a part of the world they’ve all never experienced before.

10 episodes show their trip across Morocco; a beautiful, paved, culturally rich, and safe for tourists country. The guys soon find out what the real struggle is… each other. In the attempt to circle the entire country by longboard, they lose their minds and go completely insane. So put on your 3D goggles and pour yourself some mint tea, you might find out something new about Morocco!

French film company West Films recently released a short video “Biarritz by Night.”

Shot and edited by filmmaker Pierre Untas it shows a rarely seen, skateboarding side of the coastal city in South West France.

Instead of featuring the region’s world famous beach-breaks, Untas takes to the streets of Biarritz, showing off the some great skate spots.
