Not to be confused with the 1988 surf film, The Drifter, Drift has been written and will be directed by Morgan O’Neill, taking Worthington back to his home countryk, shooting along the stunning Western Australian coastline. He’ll also be joined by X-Men Origins: Wolverine actor, Myles Pollard, as well as Twilight Eclipse’s Xavier Samuel.

The plot explores what many might view of the ‘dream lifestyle’ surrounding the surf culture, and the uncertainties which can come along with it. Taking a look at the friendship and passion which surround the surfing community, this film follows the story of a family who launch a small surfing business.

As filming commences, more than 70 West Australian crew members will be working on the production. However, with just six weeks in which to shoot, it seems unlikely that there will be much time for them to enjoy the waves or relax with a games on beach-side pt.partypoker.com Party poker themselves. A number of local surf businesses have also been recruited to assist with the production, and background footage from the Margaret River Pro competition last April is also reported to be being used.

Usually seen looking relatively clean-cut in film such as Avatar and Clash of the Titans, Worthington has recently been spotted sporting a rather more rugged look lately. Could the long hair and beard be a glimpse of his surfer image? It’s certainly possible, however, in his role as a surf photographer, he’s already stated that he won’t actually be getting on a board.

With the KB4girls 2011 World Tour being a crucial part of the National Championships in Alva the event schedule got a boost with the female participants coming together 2 days before the start of the competition to prepare for the big show.

Unfortunately the girls met with 2 days of no wind but this did not to stop them from improving their skills in a very special way. World Champion coach Kristin Boese took the opportunity to focus on her secrets for success by teaching the girls the skill and benefit of mental imaging.

Kristin Boese says: “This was actually the first time we had enough time to seriously focus on the mental part of competing and with the competition so close all the girls really focused on actually applying mental imaging techniques to fine tune their strategy. There certainly was no time to be bored or complain about the lack of wind.”

Participant Pip Cox was beaming after the event stating: “What Kristin is doing for girls in kiting is great and her efforts are greatly appreciated by everyone. Even though there was no wind for the clinic I still got so much out of the couple of days. Also Anja (Reuthe), the co-trainer, was fantastic and the atmosphere between the girls was amazing.”

When it finally came to competing, the female competitors field was filled more than ever before for an Australian Nationals event with 16 girls competing. The girls also showed just how much they had learned and improved during the windless days and ran spectacular heats, showing off a lot of variety, style and power.

Alexandra Wood had to say: “The girls showed more tricks in their heats than the boys and it was really fun to watch and be part off the event.”

Known as the most progressive female rider on the slopes, Torah Bright recently took home the gold in the snowboard halfpipe event at the Vancouver 2010 Games. A globally recognized athlete, she was the first Roxy rider to launch her own signature collection, the Roxy Bright Edition during the 2008/2009 winter. She is also a two-time Winter X Games gold medalist in the snowboard halfpipe.

Bright’s future plans include filming a new snowboard movie, re-entering competitive slopestyle and perfecting her backcountry riding. Bright will also be focusing on expanding her technical skills and advancing her tricks in the halfpipe in anticipation for the 2014 Olympics in Russia where the Australian native will try for her second piece of Olympic gold. Bright will be competing in the upcoming 2011 Winter X Games in Aspen.
