Jim Goldberg ‘Open See’ exhibition at the Photographers’ Gallery
Jim Goldberg had been documenting the experiences of people who travel from war torn, socially and economically devastated countries, to make new lives in Europe since 2003.
Originating from Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East, these ‘new Europeans’ have met violence and brutality as well as hope and liberation in their new homes.
The “Open see” exhibition will be present at the Photographers’ Gallery, London from October 16 – January 17, 2010.
Goldberg, a Magnum photographer has used a range of media including Polaroids, video, written text, ephemera and large and medium format photographs to collect and capture the stories. The words and images combine to tell intimate stories of past and present experiences.
