“I’ve come a long way from shooting local kids on the sidewalks of Lansing in 1987 with a used Nikon F3.
But I still get the same feeling when I climb over a big fence with all my gear, or skate a spot in the middle of the night, and get away with exactly what we were looking for.
It’s the same feeling that I had as a kid when I first figured out how to ollie. Skateboarding will always be a huge part of who I am, and I’m sure that 99 percent of the people on these pages feel exactly the same way.
I can only hope that a skateboarder picks this book up, then grabs a camera and starts documenting his friends. They may end up being the next generation of famous rippers. Hell, it happened to me.”

Blabac Photo: The Art of Skateboarding Photography
, the book that was released in July this year by PowerHouse Books as the fruit of an effort of Mike Blabac, PowerHouse Books and DC Shoes. It tells us a story of one of the most preminent skate photographers in the world; Mike Blabac, a man inspired and totally dedicated to what he does. This book is a chornicle of skateboarding the way he sees it, through the lens of his camera. It is so much more than just a hobby.

Skateboarding is a way of life and Mike Blabac has always been there for the last 20-or-so years to document it. He shot the best riders, skate legends such as Eric Koston, Stevie Williams, Colin McKay, Rob Dyrdek, and Danny Way. In this amazing book he tells a story through few words and hundreds of images of a sport that has influenced art, fashion, music and equally millions of people around the world. This is definately one of the most amazing books I have seen this year, great photos, great story. Inspiring!
