‘Bouncing Cats’ documentary. Breakdance in Uganda.
‘Bouncing Cats’ is a powerful documentary directed by Nabil Elderkin about the project that brings breakdance culture to Uganda. It documents the inspiring story of Abraham Tekya the creator of Breakdance Project Uganda that was thought to help empower communities devastated by the civil war and to help former child soldiers by teaching youth about b-boy culture.
As Abramz says, “This is where many people’s pride is. It’s a skill that no one can take away from us.”
Bouncing Cats follows Abramz, Crazy Legs, and Breakdance Project Uganda on a journey to use hip-hop culture for positive social change. The film features narration by Common and interviews with Mos Def, Will-I-Am, and K’Naan.
